*Ten years of residency in Latin America as Team Leader of IPPC/USAID Weed Research Projects (Ecuador, 5/70-8/72; Brazil, 7/73-11/75; Costa Rica 8/76-7/82), leading field research, participating in socioeconomic analyses of alternative technology, and training of national scientists.
TEACHING AND ADVISING
1. University-Level Courses Taught
From 1979 through 1981, taught annual course in the University of Costa Rica/Tropical Agricultural Research and Training Center (CATIE) Master of Science Graduate Program, Turrialba, Costa Rica. Appointed as Adjunct Professor, School of Agriculture, University of Costa Rica, 1978-1982.
2. Thesis and Dissertation Research Supervised
Major professor for seven M.S. theses at Oregon State University and in the University of Costa Rica/CATIE graduate program. Also served on committee for five additional M.S. and PhD theses.
3. Special Teaching/Training Accomplishments
Co-organized and co-taught more than 50 short courses in English, Spanish and Portuguese in 17 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Pakistan and OSU in the past 20 years, plus more than 70 courses in English and Spanish in Oregon since 1990.
